It all started with the groove.

Joe "Mojo" Dean and Jay Simper have been playing together in various bands over the years, since they met at Musician's Institute in Los Angeles, CA, but when the world came to a standstill during the COVID pandemic, they found themselves in their studios looking for an escape. That escape came through the infectious grooves and inspiring lyric ideas that were sent back and forth, and before they knew it, Collective In Groove was born. Inspired by bands like Tower of Power, Earth Wind & Fire, and Brand New Heavies, the band's sound points to a simpler time, when life was more carefree, and when music seemed more pure and joyful.  Overall, Collective In Groove is about escaping from one's daily stresses through music; and the songs on their 5 song EP fit the band name and mission perfectly. There are no crazy production tricks on the EP, as all the songs arrangements were created with real drums, real bass, real vocals, and real horns. The fun part is that Joe and Jay have come together to create a unique style that is progressive yet simple; new yet familiar. The name Collective In Groove comes from the philosophy that everybody can come together from different places and different styles to create one groove and work as one.
